Dear Community,
As we move through another season together, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the conversations we’ve been having with our community — and the care we’ve been focused on delivering.
This quarter began with Birth Trauma Awareness Week in July, a time to gently acknowledge the physical and emotional impact that a difficult birth can have. Birth-related injuries and pelvic health concerns can take many forms, affecting recovery, continence, pelvic floor function, pain, sexual health and confidence in returning to everyday life and exercise.
Importantly, pelvic health care doesn’t need to begin after a problem arises. Through our Bump, Birth & Beyond (BBB) Program, we work with women throughout pregnancy, in preparation for birth and during postnatal recovery — helping them feel informed and physically prepared, supporting recovery, and where possible, reducing the risk and longer-term burden of birth-related pelvic health problems.
In August, we marked Healthy Bones Action Week, turning our attention to the quieter, longer-term work of building strength that lasts. Our Bone Builders classes bring together the strength and loading needed to support healthy bones with something often overlooked — pelvic floor function. Led by pelvic health physiotherapists, the classes allow women to build strength and load confidently while taking into account their individual pelvic health needs.
And this month, we’re observing Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, introducing our community to Prostatectomy Prepare, Recover, Rebuild 🌿 — a structured pathway supporting men through every stage of the prostate cancer journey, from preparation for surgery through to recovery and rebuilding.
Across all of it, one theme has stayed constant: the body’s milestones — pregnancy and birth, ageing, surgery and recovery — deserve preparation, understanding and expert support, so you can feel confident in your body and continue to thrive. That’s the work we’re here to do, and we’re grateful to be doing it alongside you.
Thank you for being part of our community. Whatever stage of your health journey you’re navigating, we’re here to help.
Warmly,
Dr Angela James FACP.
