Description
Do you feel confident assessing and treating coccyx and perianal pain—and knowing what is driving the pain in the person in front of you?
Coccyx and perianal pain can be challenging to assess and manage. Presentations may involve local musculoskeletal and pelvic floor dysfunction, altered biomechanics, bowel dysfunction, neural involvement, pain sensitisation and psychosocial factors—often in combination.
This course equips pelvic health physiotherapists with an evidence-informed, biopsychosocial framework to confidently assess, clinically reason and manage coccyx and perianal pain.
Moving beyond a purely tissue-based approach, you will learn how to differentiate local, regional and central contributors to pain, recognise important differential diagnoses and red flags, and determine which findings are clinically meaningful. You will then apply a structured clinical consultation framework to translate your assessment findings into an individualised, multimodal management plan.
What’s Included
Alongside the comprehensive course content, you will receive practical resources designed to support immediate clinical translation, including:
- Structured clinical consultation framework to guide assessment, clinical reasoning and management
- Video demonstrations of clinical assessment techniques, including coccyx and pelvic floor assessment
- Practical exercise therapy demonstrations and progressions
- Clinical assessment forms to support use in practice
- Case-based learning demonstrating the progression from assessment and clinical reasoning through to management and outcomes
- Practical treatment strategies across education, manual therapy, pelvic floor rehabilitation, exercise and self-management
- Resources to revisit in clinical practice, supporting ongoing application beyond completion of the course
