What is femfit®?

femfit® by JUNOFEM is a pelvic floor training system powered by advanced biofeedback technology, clinically proven to resolve up to 80% of urinary incontinence symptoms in just 12 weeks. Backed by a decade of research, femfit® combines a state-of-the-art, discreet medical device with clinically-validated strength training programmes delivered via mobile app, plus ongoing support from your pelvic physiotherapist and femfit’s expert team. No more hiding when you cough, laugh, run or exercise – find your way to a healthier, stronger pelvic floor with femfit®.

How does femfit® work?

The femfit® is a wearable, intravaginal device that is thin, flexible and embedded with eight sensors, which measure internal pressure along the wall of the vagina and sends real-time feedback to a mobile app. Other devices on the market give no indication which muscles you are using or how effectively you are exercising them. The femfit® allows you to see that you are engaging the correct muscles as you contract them and adapt your technique until it is your pelvic floor, not your abdominals, doing the work.

Stress Urinary
Incontinence

Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is the involuntary loss of urine as a result of increased intra-abdominal pressure due to effort or exertion (such as sneezing/coughing). SUI is associated with weakness in the pelvic floor muscles, impeding their ability to fully close the urethra under periods of increased pressure. femfit® boosts the performance and activity of the pelvic floor muscles, alongside your individualised training program, to help you achieve results faster.

Urge Urinary
Incontinence

Urge urinary incontinence is an involuntary leakage of urine accompanied by a sense of urinary urgency. Urge urinary incontinence is often associated with weak pelvic floor muscles which make it difficult for the muscles to hold on and support the bladder. femfit® targets the pelvic floor muscles. By providing feedback about your technique and a guided evidence-based pelvic floor program, you can see results much faster.

Post-Childbirth Recovery

After giving birth, many women experience weakening or stretching of the pelvic floor muscles. This can lead to a wide range of pelvic-related health conditions, including poor bladder control, pelvic organ prolapse, or pain and discomfort in this area. femfit® can help postnatal women to regain strength in their pelvic floor muscles, enabling them to achieve better health outcomes and avoid further problems and complications down the line.

Is There a Problem With Your Pelvic Floor?

Here are some common signs that may indicate you have weak pelvic floor muscles or a problem in this area:

  • Involuntarily leaking urine when you exercise, laugh, cough or sneeze
  • A frequent need to get to the toilet quickly (or not getting there in time)
  • Constantly needing to go to the toilet
  • Difficulty emptying your bladder or bowel
  • Loss of control of your bladder or bowel
  • Involuntary flatulence
  • Pelvic organ prolapse: this may be noticed as a bulge in the vagina or a feeling of heaviness, discomfort, pulling, dragging or dropping in this area
  • Pain in the pelvic area
  • Pain during sexual intercourse
  • If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, make an appointment with Sydney Pelvic Clinic. We can assess your pelvic floor and determine a suitable treatment plan, which may include the use of the femfit device.
  • Book in for your initial consultation with your pelvic physiotherapist to find out if femfit is right for you.

femfit® is a great option for women seeking to strengthen their pelvic floor muscles.

To determine whether femfit® is the right course of action for you, we’ll start by conducting a physio assessment. If we identify that you have a weak pelvic floor or would benefit from strengthening this area, we’ll advise you on how to get started with femfit®.

femfit® uses biofeedback which helps you become aware and in control of your pelvic floor muscles. The device is worn internally and as you contract your pelvic floor muscles pressure sensors detect the movement and send signals via Bluetooth to the femfit® app on your phone and/or tablet. There are eight pressure sensors on your femfit. Try to keep one of the pink bars higher than both the grey bars during a contraction. When you are contracting correctly, a bird flies above the ground level of the path. The path guides you when to squeeze and through a programme of pelvic floor muscle exercises.

These exercises have been designed by experts and clinically shown to increase pelvic floor muscle strength and coordination. The femfit® is able to show you exactly what is happening during this process and will help you do this correctly.

femfit® is non-invasive and pain-free. You’ll simply experience some tingling and pelvic floor muscle contractions during use.

The good news is, you can resume your usual daily activities immediately after your treatment.

femfit® is clinically proven to resolve up to 80% of urinary incontinence symptoms in just 12 weeks.

To begin with, one of our physios will need to assess you so we can check whether femfit® is a suitable treatment option for you. Make an appointment with Sydney Pelvic Clinic and chat to our friendly team about femfit®.
