Our Founder, Dr Angela James, was recently quoted in today’s Herald Sun discussing postpartum pelvic organ prolapse — and the critical role pelvic health physiotherapy can play in reducing risk when we intervene earlier after birth. 💙
So many women don’t realise their pelvic floor vulnerability isn’t always obvious in the early postnatal period — but it can surface years later, particularly through peri-and menopause. 🌿
As shared in the article:
“Women may not know their risk profile post-birth — and if they load their pelvic floor too early, its vulnerability can be revealed through problems like prolapse.”
We need to shift from reactive care → preventative care. ✨
Advocating for Medicare-funded pre- and post-natal pelvic health support isn’t just about recovery after birth — it’s about protecting women’s long-term physical health, function, quality of life, and ability to fully participate in life.
Early assessment.
Individualised rehab.
Safer return to exercise. 💪
This is essential healthcare — not a luxury.
We’re grateful to contribute to this important conversation and to the women bravely sharing their stories to raise awareness.
