To help support March as Endometriosis awareness month in 2021, Sydney Pelvic Clinic ran two events including a free seminar about Endometriosis and the ways in which we can manage Endo with a holistic and whole body approach, and a 2-hour Physio Restore for Endometriosis workshop.
Joined by Gynaecologist and Laparoscopic surgeon, Dr Haryun Won, speaking about the role of the gynaecologist in both diagnosing, treating and managing the condition, this was a really wonderful insight into Endo from both a doctor’s perspective as well as that of Pelvic Physiotherapy. We also touched on supplements and diet that may play a role in endo management too.
There were opportunities for questions throughout the presentation.
Physio Restore – Endometriosis
Felicity de Blic tailored this workshop specifically to the needs of our endometriosis community. It explored the body’s relaxation response, & to safely soften muscle tension around the pelvis, hips, low back and abdomen.
Participants learnt to identify and practice postures helpful to perform during both the easier and the more difficult phases of the menstrual cycle. Mindfulness principles for pain management and deep relaxation to support fatigue were also explored.
Participants received tips on how to recreate Restore postures with props found at home, and also received MP3 recordings of Physio Restore practices and a written posture guide to support practicing at home during different phases of the cycle.
